Want Younger Looking Skin?
Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA’s) are known to reduce wrinkles as well as soften strong, defining lines and improve the overall look and feel of the skin. Not all AHA’s do the same things for you skin. Here are the some basics and some of the benefits.
Glycol acid has been said to be the most effective by dermatologists due to its small molecule size which allows it to penetrate deeper. It also acts as an exfoliant removing dead skin cells and reveal the renewed skin.
Oleic acid is a actually an Omega-9 Fatty Acid that replenishes the skins lipid layer. The top layer of your skin that acts as a barrier. This lipid layer depletes as we age. Oleic acid is used for repairing visual signs of aging and help smooth dry, damaged skin.
Hyaluronic is also naturally found in skin and is a hydrating molecule that attracts and retains 1000 times it’s weight in water. As we lose this acid through aging fine lines and wrinkles occur. You can re-plump your skin by applying it topically.
Too much of some AHA’s can cause dryness, redness, or other side effects. It’s best to change or add one thing at a time to your skincare routine for up to 60 days before you decide if it is working for you or not. If the directions for a product say “Up to twice a day,” start with once a day and make sure you don’t have a reaction.
